- Weapons
The weapons of the Orient
fascinate many students, especially when TV and movies present them as almost
magical. In truth, training in the traditional weapons takes much time,
practice and often includes many bumps and bruises. Some students learn a few
manipulations, or fancy twirls and movements, and think that they know how to
use the weapon. In reality, the fancy tricks would almost never be used in a
real fight and exist primarily to demonstrate the user's knowledge and
physical control of the weapon.
